Anyone want to share some tips on cage cleaning?

Do you use anything special to clean your cage?

How about anything that makes cleaning cages quicker?

For me with the 4 bird cages and a Chinchilla cage, I use the shop vac for changing the cage litter and a power washer for the once a month full detail.

I found using one of mr clean power erasers worked wonders "after" I got the cages wet. I can clean everything thats stuck in the bars with little or no effort.

They don't last that long but worth the price for the job they do. I'm thinking I pay about $1.00 for two of them at walmart.

"poop off" love the stuff. Managed to get it through customs here once but I have a sneaking feeling the second bottle I bought is sitting in their office. :pissed: Never mind, I've managed to find an Aussie company with a similar product (enzyme based) that I'm going to try. the pressure cleaner is fantastic especially for the lorikeet cage once a month. I use newspaper and change it twice a week, hot water with a spray hose for the grates.

Flock consists of cockatiels, quakers, sun conure, nanday conures, GCCs, lovebirds, rainbow lorikeets, budgies, mallee ringneck, IRN, quail, BE2 and CAG. Screech if I forgot anyone.

I use a cleaner that i get from my local bird shop called OxyFresh. i spray the cage with it (bird out of corse) and let it soak for a few min, the poop wipes clean off.

HA I was just realizing that the best place to do this would be in the bathtub/shower...and then imagined the look on my boyfriend's face when he found out "poop" had been in the tub!  He has a very severe reaction to poop...maybe if I just don't tell him and make sure to bleach the tub afterwards....

The bathtub works for small cages. But my TAG's doesn't fit well -even taken apart.  I use the steam cleaner now and love it.  I also use poop off.
