Should I ask Santa for a Caique?
«

Every year my husband asks for a list of 3 things that I would really like for Christmas. I am supposed to include one thing that is expensive (more than 500.00) I am thinking of asking for a Caique. I have read until my eyes are blurry, I don't know anyone who owns one. So if you own a Caique could you please tell me your personal experiences.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!

First off, you are very lucky to have a Husband like that! (I suppose I'm gonna have to spoil Chloe... better get a job soon...)
I've heard of nothing but good things on Caiques. BirdTalk's #1 Clownish Bird, they're completely full of energy. (I'd LOVE to see one of them hop around like they do). I read once about a woman who'd brought her's to a seminar, and when she went to eat afterwards, there was a rude waitor she got agitated with, and the bird sensed that and flew to his face and clamped on his upper lip, so I can only assume they can sometimes be protective.
I think that you must consiter price of a large cage for such an active bird, and make sure you've got enough energy to keep up with it.
Good Choice, by the way! I've always wanted a Caique too! Are you planning on a Black Cap or a White Belly?

I do have a wonderful husband :). I can tell you when we first got married most pressies were small dollar wise and big in the thought department. The first christmas present he got me after we were married was a sign that said "I love a man with dishpan hands" and a note that said he would do the dishes every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a whole year. I loved that present!
I am not sure which one, I would be happy with a black cap or a white belly.
I currently have a large cage that is empty that would be perfect. It was such a great deal I couldn't pass it up.
I have heard that they are bundles of energy. I got to play with one at a bird show and he was so cute. He didn't walk anywhere he hopped like a bunny. I don't think anyone has told them that they are actually little birds. They act like they are big!

OMG I want one, well 2 actually. I think I've done my dash this year with Arthur though. If you've been good and Santa thinks that a caique is reasonable then I say go for it. I can drool over yours while I save for the next 5 years for my pair.
I've recently seen both the black capped and white bellied and personally I like the black capped more in appearance. It's all personal though.
Merry Xmas and I hope Santa brings you what you wish for.

You could ask for "... A Hippopatomas for Christmas! Only a Hippopatomas will do! No Crocadiles, or Rhinosarous-s-s, I only like Hippopatomas-s-s, and Hippopatomas-s-s like me too!" (It's a song, just in case nobodies heard it.)
Wow, I don't even want to know how badly I spelled that.

I agree the black caps have a regal appearance. They are both just so darn cute. I hope I get one for christmas but if I don't there is always next year :) Don't tell hubby but I want 2 of them also, it is easier to just start with one and then tell him how nice it would be if they had company.
I don't think my zoning regs would allow a hippo, I do however have the room for one and a small river on the back of the property. I haven't heard that song in a while.
Happy Holidays!

I am so nervous I heard my husband talking to someone today about a bird. I was good and left the room I was in so I didn't get to hear any specifics.
*taps* how many days until Christmas?
